Welcome to the Pre-K Classroom!

Lead Teacher: Ms. Karla's
Our older preschool children are getting ready for the big transition to kindergarten! We separate our older students by age and readiness between our 3’s and 4’s group; each student is assessed and transitions are done by each student’s needs as well as recommendations from the parents and teachers.
As with the twos, we follow the Creative Curriculum as well as Scholastic’s BIG DAY. We pay special attention to each child’s learning style and offer a wide variety of activities and play experiences to encourage growth and development.
Based on Scholastic BIG DAY we have weekly themes that we base our science, mathematics, literacy, music and physical activities from. Integrating the curriculum in this multifaceted way helps develop the child’s ability to transfer their learning to other settings as well as allow learning to occur at different levels.
Students learn while playing and during teacher-guided activities. It occurs as a result of trial and error, manipulation, repetition and exploration. Children are naturally curious and eager to solve problems in which we encourage this in and outside our classroom with engaging centers and daily outside playtime. Children are encouraged to solve problems with peers on their own with a guiding hand if needed. In an environment full of positive interactions and conversations with their teachers, our students are learning positive social-emotional skills that they will value into their elementary school years.
In addition to our classroom experiences, we embark on field trips to libraries, local parks, as well as ski and ice skating lessons. Building the whole child, one positive experience to the next.
